Painting and Photography Holidays - what we do.

Colin led holidays.

- In good weather:-

sunrise

................................... we go out
to sketch, paint, draw and photograph
'plein air', taking in some of the region's most
scenic and interesting features - carefully selected sites with available shade and not too
many curious or intrusive eyes.

In their own different ways the sites are
as interesting to the photographer as the
painter.

Let's face it, most painters constantly use photographic reference anyway - your photo could be the inspiration for a great painting!

The only way to get started or get up to speed again is just to get on and do it.

I'll help get you started if you feel you might struggle, but you will produce something, learn from and build on those initial works.

We sketch, paint, draw and photograph in and around the house, too . . .

In poor weather:-

.................................. poor weather gives us the chance to complete previously unfinished works, put together still life compositions and will also allow a little time to learn how to enlarge initial sketches in a number of ways;

- traditional methods
- some that use computers
- some that use a piece of equipment that only those of you who worked in creative advertising or print studios 'in the day', will have seen before.

Photographers can use the excellent flora, fauna, architecture and ever changing light conditions to clasp that prize shot (right column pix here, all copyright of Catherine and Colin Winn).

Many camera users do not realise the strength of their captured images often lies in subsequent 'cropping' - it is a rare ability to shoot a scene or object and frame it perfectly first time, outside of a studio environment.

You're welcome to use your own laptops, or for a small additional charge I can allow downloads onto my PC to assess your day's work, help adjust and/or crop frames in Photoshop, print out and/or burn to CD if required.

Having been Studio Head in advertising, Art Editor for two trade magazines and designer of a magazine for Shell UK Ltd., I can advise in these matters.

Suggestion:-
Why not try a medium you've not had a go with before? For example, if you usually paint in oils, buy some acrylics;
if you usually use brushes, why not buy some palette knives. If unsure, just e-mail me and I'll do my best to advise.
